Congratulations from the Wyoming Boys’ State Board of Directors and Staff on your achievements in high school.
Based on your academic excellence, we would like to invite you to submit an application for the 2026 Wyoming Boys’ State session to be held at the University of Wyoming’s College of Business in Laramie, June 7-13, 2026.

Applications for the 2026 Wyoming Boys’ State session, June 7-13, 2026, at the University of Wyoming’s College of Business in Laramie, are now being accepted online here.
Boys’ State, the nation’s premier program to develop tomorrow’s leaders, is sponsored by The American Legion and is offered to boys who have completed their junior year and have at least one remaining semester in high school. Applicants must be of good character and have an interest in government.
Delegates will compete for a variety of scholarships and may earn college credits for completion of the program. Two Wyoming delegates will have the opportunity to attend the Boys’ Nation program, in Washington, D.C.
The cost of attendance at Wyoming Boys’ State is $400 and may be sponsored by local American Legion Posts of private sponsors.
Applications must be completed online and submitted to the high school student guidance office or local American Legion Post by May 15.
Boys’ State, one of the most prestigious leadership programs in the Nation, is a development program involving up to 100 of Wyoming’s top high school juniors. Delegates will experience living in simulated cities, electing city, county and state officials, participating in the legislature, court systems and engage in the election process. Delegates will:
- Debate legislation and policies
- Qualify for a variety of scholarships
- Compete in intramural sports
- Showcase special talents
- Two delegates will be selected to attend Boys’ Nation in Washington D.C.
Program presenters include the Governor, Wyoming’s U.S. congressional delegation, state legislators, judges, attorneys, law enforcement officers, veterans and other professionals. Delegates also learn the power of teamwork and self-motivation and develop life-long friendships. The week culminates with a trip to the State Capitol in Cheyenne, where delegates occupy the House and Senate chambers and various offices and agencies of Wyoming’s government.
Boys’ State, sponsored by Wyoming American Legion Posts and community sponsors, is provided at no charge to delegates. Three college credits are available for completing the program.
Applications are initiated online through our website. After you’ve entered your information, we will send you an email confirmation of your application. An American Legion or Boys’ State representative will be in contact with you within 7 days. If you do not hear from someone, please contact your local representative, whose contact information is noted on your application. Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis.
